Coffee – as fresh as the day it was roasted and full of aroma
Coffee – full freshly roasted aroma
The importance of the right packaging to maintain a product's freshness and aroma is especially clear with coffee, since this is a very sensitive product. If freshly roasted beans come into contact with oxygen, they oxidize and quickly lose their quality. So the challenge is to pack coffee in a way that preserves aroma.
Packaging that preserves aroma
There are several different packaging alternatives for coffee. For instance everyone knows solid vacuum packed coffee. To preserve the aroma, air is sucked out of the coffee packaging so that hardly any of the destructive oxygen remains inside. The coffee retains its full aroma when it reaches consumers.
"Freshly roasted" packaging
For an even better flavor, coffee can be packed immediately after roasting. But it produces up to 6 liters of roasting gases per kilo after the roasting process. Since the packaging is air-tight to keep oxygen out, the gases cannot escape, making packages inflate like balloons or even burst. One solution is to store the coffee before packaging until the roasting gases have escaped. Unfortunately, aroma is also lost in the process. It is a compromise coffee lovers no longer need to make.
The solution is a special aroma-preserving valve from Bosch that is attached either inside or outside the packaging. Roasting gases can always escape, while oxygen is still kept out.
Bosch aroma-preserving technology has existed for 25 years and is used by many major coffee producers – for more coffee enjoyment throughout the world.
Many different packaging solutions
Many different packaging solutions
Bosch Packaging Technology has developed an extensive program of machines for packing coffee, providing a suitable solution for every production and performance need, including flexible bag filling machines for packing coffee or cornflakes, multi-purpose boxing machines and the acclaimed high-performance "Hesser" machines for packing coffee, sugar and flour.
Simple opening
Packaging should ideally protect its content and also be as easy to use as possible. Above all, that means it must be easy to open without scissors or a knife. Packing machines from Bosch are especially flexible. They produce packaging with various different seals at the top. An especially practical extra "tearing aid" makes handling particularly easy: Simply tear it apart and the package is open.
Even simpler: portion packaging
Just slip it into the machine, press the button and your fresh espresso is poured into your cup. Filter pads, coffee sticks and capsules are the easiest way to enjoy fresh coffee. Predictions presume that by 2010, one in three new coffee machines will be a filter system using pads. Bosch has many different packaging solutions for packing volumes of individual portions.
Regardless how we enjoy our coffee – only the right packaging guarantees true enjoyment. Packaging technology from Bosch transforms our packaging into the all-rounders we know. For more quality and better health – every day.
