Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Credit Control

In the Management and Financial Accounting departments, your job is to ensure that the management team has all the necessary information needed to make informed business decisions. In the Financial Accounting team, you ensure that the Financial Statements published conform to the appropriate accounting rules and regulations.

In Management Accounting, you are involved in the monthly preparation of management accounts, including Profit and Loss as well as balance sheet statements, in compiling the annual budget plan spanning two years, and in ensuring that forecasts are updated quarterly to reflect any changes in the business performance. You also prepare monthly management reports and present them to other management teams. The reports should explain deviations to budget/forecasted results, identify risks and opportunities for each division/plant or department, and ensure that corrective action is taken when necessary. This way, we maximise opportunities and mitigate any risks.

In Financial Accounting, one of your key responsibilities is the filing of the required statutory accounts and managing the year-end audit process. Other duties include the management of the general ledger, accounts payable, and balance sheet, and providing support to internal customers on topics such as internal controls and fixed asset management.

In Credit Control, your duties include ensuring that customers pay within their agreed payment terms and that credit checks are carried out regularly to make sure that the credit limits set are relevant and do not need adjustment due to any recent changes. In the event of default payments, you and your team ensure a quick follow up to ensure that any risks to the company are mitigated.

In Purchasing, you are always on the lookout for the most reliable supplier, the highest quality, and the best price – in both national and international markets. This goes for raw materials, parts, components, and consumables for the manufacture of our products, as well as for machinery, products, and services such as IT equipment and service level agreements. Core duties include monitoring the quality of goods, conducting approval tests, auditing processes, and optimising supply chains. Other important aspects are finding reliable suppliers in new emerging markets and developing preferred suppliers. You optimise the quality and efficiency of all deliveries and resolve any problems that may arise with suppliers. You liaise closely with internal departments and negotiate skilfully. You handle operational and strategic functions, such as consolidating purchasing volumes for certain categories of goods across the company to obtain better prices.

Research & Development

In Research & Development, you work at the very heart of our success, creating the foundations for our innovative products, developing new technologies, and securing the leading position of our company for the long term. Depending on your field and specialisation, you work in one of our development departments of a division. A wide variety of fields is open to you, including new production technologies, alternative drive technologies, photovoltaic systems, or battery materials, as well as fluid mechanics and power electronics, high-frequency technology, or 3-D design – and these are just a handful of technical and natural sciences fields where we are delivering cutting-edge work. What you can definitely expect is a state-of-the-art working environment. Your work involves liaising closely with related departments, as well as with external research facilities and our customers’ development departments.

Here, you design technical products, testing equipment and complete manufacturing facilities according to the specifications of our internal development or manufacturing units, as well as those of our customers. This extends from the detailed configuration of individual micro-components as part of product development right through to the complete design of production equipment in the area of special-purpose machinery. During the simultaneous engineering process, you integrate all specified functions and manufacturing aspects into the final design. You work closely with other departments (development, manufacturing, purchasing, construction of special-purpose machinery etc.) to produce a solid design that meets all quality, cost, and time requirements.

In Logistics, you are responsible for ensuring that the flow of goods, material, and information runs just as it should, both within the company and at all interfaces with subsidiaries, customers, and suppliers. For example, you plan the supply of raw materials to manufacturing and ensure that stock levels are sufficient, but not excessive. Or you may be coordinating the shipment of products to customers, as well as managing and designing complete supply chains. Your work includes developing IT-based strategies for procurement, transportation, inventory management, and manufacturing – at all times liaising with various internal contacts, customers, and service providers.

In Marketing, you work together with other functional areas, drawing up effective strategies for developing and marketing products or services. Knowing that your decisions are key to the way different target groups perceive our brands, you actively analyse new fields of business and develop optimal pricing strategies, closely examining purchase barriers and devising measures to overcome them. In short, your role is vital in ensuring that customers and their expectations are at the centre of everything we do.

Human Resources

In Human Resources, you are responsible for ensuring that we find and retain the right people, and for developing their personal and professional skills. Your work may be either operational or strategic in nature. For instance, you could be involved in dealing with organisational questions, drawing up contracts or determining compensation. Or you could work in organisational development and support change processes. There are opportunities throughout the company, not just in the United Kingdom. You are a competent advisor on all HR issues, working closely with public authorities, works councils, colleges and universities, and service providers, as well as with our corporate sectors, specialist departments, and works units.

Quality Management

In Quality Management, it is your job to ensure that our products earn the name Bosch. You liaise with many departments – from Development to Design and Manufacturing right through to Logistics, Purchasing, and Sales. You also maintain contacts with customers and suppliers, advising them on quality issues and guaranteeing compliance with quality standards. For example, you inspect and test goods and products using recognised quality methods. Conducting audits – both internally and at suppliers – is another important aspect of your job. You analyse systems and processes in terms of their quality capability and evaluate the results in reports.

In Simulation, you predict how products, materials, and systems behave under specific conditions. This may include examining how a component reacts to high temperatures or a casing to high pressure, the dynamics of multi-body systems, the interactions between control units and sensors or actuators, the field distribution within electromagnetic components, or the operation of a process. You simulate these conditions using computer-based programs, and apply the results in developing algorithms and statistical models for the design of systems, processes, and components. You independently gather simulation-relevant data, e.g. on physical material properties or customer-specific environmental conditions. Subsequently, you help validate the simulation models with measurements and tests. Employing simultaneous engineering methodology, you work at the interface between development, design, applications, testing, and manufacturing.

Sales Technical

In Sales Technical, you are at the vital interface with our OEM customers. In general, you build up long-term relationships with these customers. Your contacts are from the areas of purchasing, development, project management, and quality assurance. In addition to providing technical and commercial advice on existing projects, you also target and tap new business. Core functions additionally include developing sales strategies in your team, as well as taking responsibility for price and quality management for specific products, systems, or services. In all your duties, you liaise closely with other specialist departments – from Controlling to Purchasing and Marketing through to R&D and Management. You negotiate resources and pricing in the interests of your customers.

Corporate Communication & PR

In Corporate Communications & PR, you play an important role in defining the image of the company – inwardly as well as outwardly. For example, you provide associates with the latest information, and communicate various strategic issues. Outwardly, you cultivate a positive image for the company. You ensure consistent, informative communication ranging from flyers to the websites, keep the media informed of important news, set up networks, and establish trusting relationships with customers, business partners, and journalists. Working closely with management and various corporate departments, you coordinate the work of service providers such as agencies, authors, and printers.

Sales Commercial

In Sales Commercial, functions include, for example, responsibility for the success of a sales region. You plan and coordinate the financial and commercial side of things and ensure that sales and earnings targets are met. You work in field sales or even lead a field sales team, and manage regional key accounts. Vital aspects also include acquiring new customers, negotiating commercial contracts, developing a profitable price policy, and subsequently coordinating the necessary logistics processes. In addition, you constantly monitor the market and competitors and develop appropriate sales strategies. Establishing close links with relevant opinion leaders, media, and customers and showcasing our presence in your region – for example, at exhibitions or distributor fairs – are also crucial to your performance. Not least, you liaise with other divisions and departments, including on issues such as customer requirements analysis, sales support for new products, or the analysis of budget variances.

Sales Industrial

In Sales Industrial, you acquire and advise customers within a specific technological field in a region or industry. You manage key accounts and handle complete projects – from preparing quotes to after-sales support. In addition, you monitor and analyse the market and systematically spot trends, as well as identifying new sales opportunities and implementing strategies for increased market penetration. Your duties also include negotiating prices, coordinating new projects, supporting marketing, and training sales representatives.
