Research Engineer for Reliable Distributed Software Systems (f/m/div.)
Aufgaben
In future cyber-physical systems will be increasingly distributed across a device-edge-cloud continuum which connects heterogeneous compute platforms (from embedded devices over the edge to the cloud) with wired and wireless communication technologies while seamlessly integrating sensors and actuators interacting with the real world. This connected compute fabric enables new functionalities and innovations across several domains, like the software-defined car, consumer robotics, the factory of the future, and many others.
Building such an integrated distributed compute platform for CPS is challenging, especially as safety, reliability dependability and real-time properties play an important role. To support us in building such a fabric of everything and to support the vision of safe and reliable distributed systems we are looking for a research engineer in the field of software engineering who is to design, architect and implement together with the team the necessary building blocks to bring the vision to life.
Are you that motivated research engineer, with an enthusiasm for distributed software systems and research in the fields of software engineering, software architecture, and/or edge/cloud systems.
- You will be working as a researcher in our unique research ecosystem, you are shaping together with the team research projects internally and externally.
- You develop new innovative concepts and approaches implement selected aspects for demonstration and validation purposes.
- You build up and foster cross-boundary networks with key players within Business Units, Corporate Research and key universities.
- You ensure that the research results are product-relevant and effective to be used.
- With your background, you support us building safe and reliable distributed systems, combining state-of-the art IT technologies, connected vehicle approaches, and paradigms with automotive or industrial automation systems.
- You proactively share knowledge and foster an open technical/scientific exchange, as well as externally, by actively contributing to the scientific environment.
- Last but not least, you identify relevant trends and developments and initiate suitable internal activities as needed.
Profil - Education: excellent studies in the field of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Software Architecture or related fields (PhD)
- Experience and Knowledge:
- academic background in computer science and a practical "hands-on" attitude
- proven track record in several of the following areas: distributed systems, software/system architecture, cloud/edge computing, cloud architecture
- practical knowledge in implementations and programming
- prior experience with connected vehicle technologies and with automotive or industrial applications is a plus
- practical knowledge in Scrum Master and agile methods is a plus
- Personality and Working Practice: positive, highly motivated and innovative team player who is eager to learn new things and passionate about applied research
- Enthusiasm: eager to develop novel concepts and ideas and to materialize them by means of proof-of-concept realizations
- Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken), German is a plus
